Magnesium Aluminate (Spinel) (MgAl2O4) is a single crystal widely used for bulk acoustic wave and microwave devices and fast IC epitaxial substrates. It's not easy to produce MgAl2O4 crystal because of the difficulty in maintaining a single-phase structure.
